I hold undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Statistics, am a CERI-certified reading instructor, and work professionally as a Statistician. For more than 10 years, I have helped students in grades K-12 develop clarity, confidence, and long term mastery in Math and English. My approach is structured, analytical, and highly personalized. I use visual explanations, carefully sequenced instruction, and strategic practice to ensure students truly understand the material rather than relying on short term memorization. Each session builds on the previous one, creating measurable progress over time. Students work directly with me every session, ensuring consistency and accountability.I also run a math education YouTube channel, Algebra 1 with Sam, with over 12,000 subscribers. I’ve worked with a wide range of students, including:• Elementary (K–5)
• Middle school and high school
• Undergraduate students
• Adult learners and seniorsI also have experience working with students who have ADHD, dyslexia, and autism. I adjust my teaching style based on how each student processes information, whether that means breaking concepts into smaller steps, building structured routines, incorporating repetition, or slowing down to reinforce foundations.Across age groups and learning profiles, my focus is always the same: clear structure, patient explanation, and building long-term independence.
Most students feel more confident within a few sessions. Long-term improvement comes from practicing regularly between sessions.
Tutoring sessions are held online in Google Meet. During each session, I share the student’s assignments on my iPad and write directly on them as we work through problems together. This allows me to address misunderstandings in real time, fill in gaps in foundational knowledge, and guide the student through the reasoning behind each step.Sessions are interactive and focused on developing strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, so students gain confidence and learn how to approach new or unfamiliar problems independently.
I believe the right way to teach is by training students in critical thinking and problem-solving, so they can apply these skills beyond the classroom. Too often, students get stuck in rote memorization, busywork, or teaching the test, none of which stretch and shape the mind the way education should. My approach builds a deep understanding of topics in a way that engages students and sharpens their thinking. This not only helps improve grades, but also develops skills they'll carry with them long after tutoring ends.
Most students benefit from one 1-hr session per week.Students needing more support do well with 2 sessions per week.Reading/dyslexia instruction is three 30-min sessions per week.
Tutoring sessions are held online. Online tutoring allows me to use visual tools that often make explanations clearer than traditional in-person sessions.
I don’t offer free trial sessions. The first session is used to assess the student’s level and begin building a plan. Families who are consistent with sessions and practice typically see strong results.
Payment is due prior to each session via Zelle. I do not offer prepaid packages.
Sessions are scheduled in advance and reserve a dedicated time slot. Cancellations must be made at least one (1) hour before the scheduled start time. Late cancellations will be charged in full.
